ABOUT ME

I was raised in Reform Judaism  and was ordained by the Rabbinical Seminary International in 2008.  I thoroughly enjoy working with couples and helping them craft a truly unique wedding ceremony that not only reflects who they are as individuals, but also creatively weaves together and honors their religious and faith traditions.

I know it is often difficult to find a Rabbi who will perform an interfaith marriage, particularly if the non-Jewish partner is actively practicing his or her religion.  For me, it is the same God before whom you each stand.  It seems very counterproductive to alienate one or both of you by excluding the non-Jewish faith tradition from your marriage when it is already such an integral part of your relationship.  You have requested that the marriage take place in God's presence and I am pleased to honor your request.  For me, it is always, In addition to . . .   never instead of !   I will also perform marriages on Shabbat.  Shabbat is a joyous celebration of creation.  What better way to celebrate Shabbat and creation than to "create" your marriage in the presence of family, loved ones, and friends on Shabbat?!

I have also recently begun Chavurah Rodef Shalom. We meet for  Food, Friends, and Shabbat! on the one Friday of each month during the spring and summer months.  If you're in town, please join us!

In addition to rabbinical activities, I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York and graduated from Marywood University in Scranton, PA, in 1996 with a Masters in Social Work.  I have maintained a private practice for more than 22 years and have experience in working with couples regarding concerns related to marriage, relationships, adolescence, parenting, anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief and loss.

I also have an MS in Optical Engineering from the University of Rochester.  I worked in research and development in the fiber optics industry, spending five years with ITT (1980 - 1985) in Roanoke, VA, and 10 years with Corning Inc. (1985 - 1995) here in the Twin Tiers.  At this time of my life, I find both my rabbinical work and counseling to be more rewarding and enjoyable than the physics of years past!

My office hours are variable throughout the week.  I may be reached by email or by phone at (607) 738-0733.  Please call or email for an appointment or information.
